Project History
Locomu’s history includes an earlier website devoted to helping people find applications for Twitter. Today, Locomu is being rebuilt as an independent guide to social media tools, comparisons, and practical workflows.
The current project draws on the idea of making useful tools easier to discover. Our account of the earlier site is based on historical references, and we distinguish what those sources tell us from what remains unknown.
The Earlier Locomu Directory
An article published by Seu Tutorial on May 3, 2011 described Locomu as an English-language directory of Twitter applications. According to the article, visitors could browse applications by category or platform, search for a particular tool, and follow a link to the application’s website. SEU TUTORIAL
The article described the directory as containing more than a thousand applications at the time. That figure reflects the historical account; it is not a count of tools available on the current Locomu site.
The earlier directory addressed a practical need: people looking for a particular kind of application needed a way to explore a growing collection of choices.
A Broader Social Media Landscape
The range of tools people use for social media work now extends across many platforms and tasks. Creators may need help planning posts, adapting an article into short-form content, tracking campaign links, or understanding performance. Freelancers and small teams may also need to coordinate approvals and manage multiple accounts.
These needs inform the direction of the rebuilt Locomu. The project’s focus is on helping readers discover tools and understand how they might fit into a real workflow. Coverage can include scheduling, content planning, creation and repurposing, analytics, and collaboration.
Locomu Today
The current Locomu project is being developed as an independent resource for creators, bloggers, freelancers, and small teams. Its intended content includes:
- Tool profiles explaining a product’s purpose, relevant features, and limitations.
- Comparisons that help readers assess options against their own needs.
- Practical guides about planning, publishing, analytics, and related tasks.
- Workflow ideas for bringing tools and processes together.
A useful directory should provide context as well as a product name. Locomu’s aim is to make details such as supported account types, publishing methods, pricing structures, and feature limitations easier to understand. Because those details can change, readers should also check the provider’s current information before making a decision.
History and Independence
The 2011 article offers a glimpse of the earlier Locomu, but it does not establish a complete history of the domain or its ownership. We do not claim that the current project has the same owners, team, database, or services as the earlier directory.
The rebuilt site is a present-day editorial project. References to the earlier Locomu provide historical context; they should not be interpreted as an endorsement by, or an affiliation with, the people or organizations behind the earlier site.
Looking Ahead
Locomu’s direction is to grow a useful collection of tool information and practical guidance, with attention to sources, clear descriptions, and corrections when information changes. The project may evolve as readers’ needs and the available tools change.
